Year 2 Autumn Term Class Displays, by Miss Ollier

Date: 28th Nov 2016 @ 10:56pm

This term the topic in Year 2 has been the Great Fire of London and much of our topic and English work has been based abound this. For this reason we created a large topic wall in our classroom with pastel pieces of artwork to show the Great Fire and with pictures of boats sailing away from the fire.

Also in our classroom we have a reflective corner display. On our display we have a fish bowl which represents Gods (Our) World with a candle in the centre which shows that Jesus is the light of the world. We then all decorated a paper pebble using our favourite colours and patterns and wrote our names on and put them all inside of the bowl to show that we are all different but are part of Gods World. We also have our school Motto and Values on the wall and our lunchtime and school prayer.

For our elephant display we all created our own patchwork 'Elmer' to show that we are all different but can be together. We also have a mirror under this display we different feelings posters underneath so that we can learn to understand our feelings and how to manage them.

In the corridor outside our classroom we have a display that shows how we follow our school rules everday and in our cloakroom we have a fantastic rainbow fish display which phonics sounds on.

Inside our classroom we also have an E-Safety display which encourages us to think about how to be safe when using the Internet and an RE display with our initials decorated like letters from the Bible. We also have some Nativity scenes handing from ribbon on the window because we are getting very close to Christmas.

In addition to all of this we also have lots of work around the classroom which supports us with our learning in English and Maths everyday and helps to make our classroom and fun and interesting place to learn in.

Junior 1 Autumn Term Classroom Displays, by Miss Ollier

Our topic wall displays work related to our topic, such as portraits of the children as Egyptian Pharoahs, scarab beetles made using paper folding, silhouettes of the Egyptian landscape and questions that the children wanted to find the answers to during their time studying the Ancient Egypt topic.

The reflective area has Bibles for the children to read, a candle, a cross with the school motto on, a thought box, Christian Value pebbles and the school prayer. The children have written their own lunchtime and hometime prayers to go into our class prayer book and the children have also decortated their own Bible inspired letters using shiny tiles to make a collage. The children are able to use this space to reflect and read quietly.

The classroom also has a Maths and Literacy challenge area to support the children in their Mathematics and English lessons. We have examples of Perfect Presentation for Maths and English and the children's Unit Challenges are displayed.
