Year 2 End of KS1 SAT's Party!, by Miss Ollier

Date: 24th May 2017 @ 9:25pm

This afternoon the children in Year 2 celebrated completing their end of KS1 SAT's test with a Teddy Bear's Tea Party. All of the children brought in their favourite teddy bear and they joined us for the afternoon. During the register all of the children introduced their teddy bears to the rest of the class and then they decorated their tea party plates. We then played musical chairs and musical bumps and some of the children chose to colour in some teddy bear tea party pictures. We then sat in a circle altogether and the children had some tea party treats. We had Pom Bear crisps (teddy bears), carrot sticks, apple slices, bananas and fairy cakes. We then went out on to the school field to play some parachute games. Some of the children chose to play on the playground equipment aswell. At the end of the day we had a story time about teddy bears and the children all had an orange ice lolly.

We had a fabulous time and the children all really deserved their party for working so hard in their tests!

Well done Year 2 we are very proud of you!

Year 4 Science Trip To Tesco, by Mr Norbury

Date: 20th Mar 2015 @ 2:06pm

Today, Year 4 had a science visit to Tesco's in Crewe, where they were learning about the making of bread, as part of their work on materials, states and changes.

The day started eventfully, as today was the partial solar eclipse and we had some time for the children to experience it before we entered the store.

They had the opportunity to make their own pizzas and sample different meats, as part of Tesco's 'Food to Fork' program. They discussed the 5 stages to making bread and the amount of loaves and rolls, Tesco  make each day. Just for the record that's 500 loaves of bread and 2000 rolls daily. We were then given a tour of the store bakery and an unexpected talk from two jolly fishmongers, (well it is the International day of Happiness!!)

We would like to thank Hayley, Dave and Tesco for their time.

KS2 WW1 Wow Day!, by Miss Ollier

Date: 4th Sep 2014 @ 10:57pm

On Thursday 4th September 2014 the Key Stage 2 children at our school took part in a World War 1 wow day to begin this terms topic. The children were able to take part in a range of different activities throughout the day and worked with children in other classes who they may not usually work with.

The children started the day with a class worship which focussed on the theme of rememberance, they considered their own memories and also discussed why it is so important to remember soldiers who have fought and are fighting in wars. The pupils then watched the children's version of War Game by Michael Foreman and then some of the Year 6 children shared their information power points about World War 1. The children were particularly interested to find out about what children played during WW1, what happened at school and also what they ate. Throughout the day the children took part in a dance/drama activity to show a soldiers life during the war from enlisting to training and finally to life in the trenches. They made identity cards showing their name, age and height in feet and inches and they also created silhouettes of war items including rifles, horses and connons using black and red card. One of the most popular activities of the day was when Lieutenant Wiggins trained the soldiers for war teaching them how to stand to attention, take cover, salute and get ready to fire using her whistle!

Our WW1 wow day was both fun and informative and the children showed great sensitivity to an emotional but important event for everyone to remember! Well done KS2! You made the day very special for everyone!

Please look at the video below to find out more about the day.
