Miss Dean

Miss Dean

Is Junior 1 teacher and SENDCO, and also plays the clarinet, piano and saxophone for various performances.

Mr Ashley

Outside of school he spends time with his wife and 3 children and enjoys going to the cinema and comedy/music concerts.

This year we will be learning about some very exciting topics including;

Autumn: Why Remember?

Spring:   Heavy Metal

               This term our topic is entitled 'Why Remember?' and we are going to be exploring the World War One.

       In English, we are going to be looking at letter writing, poetry, diaries and newspaper recounts all based on the World War I. The children will be researching key facts about 'WWI' and creating their own war scrapbook.  The books the children will be focussing on are 'The Amazing Tale of Ali Pasha' by Michael Foreman (which is based on a true story) and 'Archie's War' by Marcia Williams.

Our learning challenge lessons, which include; Geography, History, Art and Design, Music and Design and Technology will also be based on the topic of 'Why Remember' during the World War I.

Throughout the year, the children will also be working with different teachers in Key Stage 2 for a carousel afternoon. Miss Dean will be teaching the Glockenspeils, Miss Durber French, Mr Norbury Computing and Mrs Elliott Eco.

Mathematics lessons will focus on numbers, calculations, geometry, measures and statistics and applying these skills to solving problems. Spelling lessons will develop the childrens spelling, reading and writing skills and they also work on these skills in Guided Reading time.

In Science the children work in their year groups and focus on a range of Scientific skills and topics. They also have the opportunity to study an outdoor environment every half term.

In RE we learn all about  Forgiveness, Salvation, resurrection and the Kingdom of God.

Important reminders!

Every Monday afternoon the children undertake PE lessons with Sports Coaching North West. The children need to have their PE kits in school every week, this should include a white t-shirt, black shorts and trainers (not pumps or slip ons). The children will also need a warm track suit for the winter months.

Homework is handed out on a Thursday to be handed back in the following Monday, this will be both Maths and English each week.

 I am sure that the children will continue to move around and work with different teachers and different children in KS2 maturely and sensibly.

Well done and keep up the hard work!
